Looking to party in Brisbane this Australia Day long weekend? Well you’ve come to the right place!
Our most awesome day EVER happens to fall on a Monday this year, so many venues have opted to start the celebrations early by hosting events on Australia Day Eve (Sunday). Which is completely fine, since you basically have Saturday to rest and Monday to recover. And by recover, I mean sitting by the pool with your Australian flag printed board shorts, thongs, stubbie cooler, hat, sunnies, blow up flotation device/furniture, and a mouth full of snags straight off the barbie.
Kicking off the Australia Day Eve celebrations is “OUT on Sunday” from 2PM in the Beer Garden of The Wickham Hotel. You can look forward to their Summer Series with great drinks, great food, and awesome music in a friendly environment.
Get ready to see half naked bodies at the “2nd Annual Shirt Off Oz Day Party” hosted by The Sportsman Hotel from 3PM. DJ Vinceable will be playing tunes in the Club Bar as people lose their shirts. Take part in the Pool Comps and Wheel Of Sporties featuring Prizes Galore, and the Bistro is open for all your hunger needs. There will be performances by Candy Surprise, Belle Mattel and Cece Von Qweef at 6pm, 7.30pm and 9pm.
Still hungry for more? The Beat Megaclub from 5PM will host a massive FREE BBQ along with heaps of games and prizes. Expect to see shows every hour from Vollie La Vont, Tina Bikki, and Sasha Trajik Mole. A huge $1600 cash jackpot will be drawn until someone wins it!
In the mood for some banging club music after all those snags? Head to Oh Hello! from 9.30PM for “TRAPPED”, featuring a no frills line up of Trap DJs to keep you going all night! Dress code has been relaxed to allow shorts, and Free Entry if you arrive before 11pm.
Last, but not least, DJ Harry K has prepared a special Australia Day instalment of “GLAM” to commence at Fluffy from 9PM. Prepare to be amazed at what’s on offer as 2012 X-Factor winner and Australian singing sensation Samantha Jade performs live! But wait, there’s more! Rupaul’s Drag Race stars Willam, Alaska 5000 & Australia’s own Courtney Act will be there to put on a show as part of their American Apparel Ad Girls tour. But what if you don’t like pop music or drag queens? Then you can head upstairs to the Swagger Djs for a night of Gay RnB and Hip Hop Anthems. If you want to skip the lines, you can still buy tickets via Moshtix for $20. Otherwise cover charge is $20 before 10pm, $25 after.
