The Giver Movie Review

The Giver is about what is arguably a perfect society in the future which is free of all emotions, free thought, lying, violence, free choice and anything naughty or fun. There is no war, no pain, no suffering, no candy, no chocolate and literally no colour. On high school graduation each person is allocated one job which they must perform for the remainder of their lives as their contribution to society.

Jonas is given the job of ‘memories’, the highest honour, which in short means that he is given memories from ‘The Giver’ and must use them to benefit the future and continue to prevent past mistakes and the unpleasant parts of modern day human life. His ability is above expectations and he quickly develops his knowledge and soon wants to create his own path, which is a big no no.

Featuring Meryl Streep (Hollywood royalty), Katie Holmes (Tom Cruise’s ex-wife), Taylor Swift (the singer), Jeff Bridges (True Grit) and newcomer Brenton Thwaites, The Giver is the type of movie which you want to watch while cuddled up on the couch with someone special (or your cat)  and watch together.

OK, so here’s the 411* on newcomer Brenton Thwaites; he’s 25 years old and one handsome hottie-Mchot whom was born and raised in Australia’s very own Cairns in Queensland! He started acting professionally a few years ago starring in TV’s SLiDE followed by Home & Away (P.S I hate that show) where he gained more experience over a couple of years. Trust me when I say this guy is talented and is going to have one hell of a successful Hollywood career. He’s already done a movie with Meryl Streep, Angelina Jolie and Ewan McGregor and he’s currently working with Helen Hunt, Luke Wilson, Geoffrey Rush and Gerald Butler!

*If you know what 411 means in this reference and where it came from comment below and I might just marry you!
