The Queen of disco Donna Summer known for her sultry moans and pulsating tunes, sadly passed away in her Florida home. Her family were by her side at the time.
Donna Summer’s family released a statement saying she died on Thursday morning and they “are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy”.
In 1975 she released Love to Love You Baby originally a 17 minute long song. It was controversial for the time because no had heard anyone sigh and moan like Donna did. Summer’s music was repeatedly sampled by many artists including Beyoncé’s song Naughty Girl. Some claim Donna Summer to be the most sampled artist ever.
Donna has never been inducted into the Hall of Fame yet she is a five-time Grammy award winner. Her close friend Elton John had this to say, “Her records sound as good today as they ever did. That she has never been inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame is a total disgrace, especially when I see the second-rate talent that has been inducted.” He went on “She is a great friend to me and to the Elton John AIDS Foundation and I will miss her greatly.”
She worked hard for her money and she had many gay and straight fans. Thank you Donna for the music. We are sure Gay Aussie fans will be playing your music all weekend and for years to come.
